Susan's plan for the kitchen included two cabinets reaching to the ceiling to create drama and the illusion of height. Crown- and foot- molding as well as angled shelving at the new kitchen entrance provided rich detail that complemented the area’s dual function for entertaining and office entry.

Cabinets with specific functions included a two-tiered Lazy Susan and a tray divider cabinet for baking sheets. Susan labeled each cabinet on the plan to help Tom and Nancy visualize how the kitchen would function.

The plan maintained the window opening above the kitchen sink which overlooked the bright family room and provided the kitchen’s only natural light. Also included were the proposed dramatic new kitchen entrance with a raised, angled counter-top, and the accompanying cabinetry that extended the foyer.

Product selection would set a new tone.
