With the plan finalized, Susan sent Barb and Dan to the showroom to select cabinetry that would accommodate their plan and keep them within budget. The Hendersons quickly found a wood tone and style they both liked.
When it came to fixtures and other details, Susan was generous with recommendations. "We never felt limited to what they had in the store, although that was plenty. She just genuinely wanted us to have a kitchen that we love," says Barb.
Dan was struck by Susan's knowledge about cabinetry and what
was possible in terms of design. She was also familiar with
sales and promotions being offered within certain product lines.
Both Dan and Barb agreed it was beneficial having someone look
at their kitchen objectively to help them think "outside
the box."
The Henderson's budget was limited. They reduced the impact by purchasing appliances a year in advance. Because Dan was an experienced contractor, he cut costs by doing the installation.
At Susan's suggestion, they chose a less-expensive counter-top. Susan says it's a good option for a customer who wants to cut costs or spend a little more in another project area such as cabinetry.
"Counter-tops are easily replaced so you can upgrade a few years down the road," notes Susan.
To brighten up the dark counter-top, Susan suggested a Granite Composite sink by Moen. Leery at first about a white sink, Barb is delighted with the virtually unstainable surface in the extra deep, double-basin sink.
Next it was time to put it all
together.
